VW Unit Wants to be Full-Range Supplier

Volkswagen AG’s commercial vehicle unit wants to be a full-range supplier, the unit’s chief executive said Tuesday. "It makes sense to be a full-range supplier," CEO Bernd Wiedemann said just before the annual International Automobile exhibition. There have been rumors in the markets that Wolfsburg-based VW was interested in integrating its heavy trucks activities in Brazil with a merged MAN AG and Scania AB.

ArvinMeritor Introduces Meritor Brake Drums for European Commercial Vehicle Market

ArvinMeritor’s Commercial Vehicle Aftermarket (CVA) organization has launched a new line of Meritor-brand brake drums. The new brake drums enhance the company’s fast-growing lineup of brake-related products and complement its existing line of original equipment trailer and drive axle drums. The drums were shown at the Automechanika 2006 exhibition this week in Frankfurt, Germany.

Dana to Sell Trailer Axle Manufacturing Business

Dana Corp. and two affiliates have entered into asset purchase agreements with Hendrickson USA, L.L.C., a subsidiary of The Boler Co., for the sale of Dana’s trailer axle manufacturing business. Under terms of the agreements, the buyers will acquire certain assets located in Lugoff, SC; Barrie, Ontario, Canada; and Wuxi, China, which are used to manufacture heavy-duty trailer axles and suspensions for an aggregate price of approximately $38 million in cash. The buyer will also assume limited liabilities related to the business.

Oshkosh Truck Reports Third Quarter EPS Up 38.5 Percent

Oshkosh Truck Corp. today reported that for the quarter ending June 30, earnings per share increased 38.5 percent to 72 cents on sales of $887.9 million and net income of $53.4 million. This compares with earnings per share of 52 cents on sales of $818.9 million and net income of $38.7 million for the prior year’s third quarter.
