FRANKFURT, Germany — ArvinMeritor’s Commercial Vehicle Aftermarket (CVA) organization has launched a new line of Meritor-brand brake drums. The new brake drums enhance the company’s fast-growing lineup of brake-related products and complement its existing line of original equipment trailer and drive axle drums. The drums were shown at the Automechanika 2006 exhibition this week in Frankfurt, Germany.
The Meritor brake drums are engineered and manufactured using high-grade cast iron in state-of-the-art casting and machining facilities to meet ArvinMeritor’s high original equipment quality standards. More than 160 part numbers cover more than 90 percent of European commercial vehicle applications. They are available for all major European truck (greater than 7.5 tons), trailer and bus applications.
"We’ve added to our lineup of aftermarket brake drums to give our customers a quality choice in the European replacement market," said Maurice Haft, managing director, CVA-Europe. "They’ve asked for a brake drum that stands up to the rigors of day-to-day commercial driving, and we’ve responded."
Haft said meticulous testing and high-tolerance machining assure accuracy and material integrity to provide optimum braking performance over the entire Meritor product line, as well as reducing the risk of brake judder and ensures longer service life of both the brake drums and brake linings. To enhance serviceability, all drums are marked with the Meritor name, part number and the relative coding to facilitate full product traceability, he added. The full line of Meritor brake drums is supported by a complete catalogue that includes a comprehensive cross-reference to all major brake drum manufacturers and suppliers (Reference MPN1069).
