The Herman Trend Alert: A Leap Forward for Autonomous Vehicles

Recently, Cartica AI, an Israeli autonomous AI mobility startup announced that global automotive giants are supporting its next generation of AI mobility solutions. Their goal is to decrease road accidents worldwide.

Automotive Investors Support Global Scaling

Including participation from Continental, Toyota AI Ventures, BMW i Ventures and OurCrowd, the funds will be used to launch its Cartica AI’s Autonomous AI platform and scale its global operations. The focus is on saving lives by lowering casualties on global motorways.

Building Strategic Partnerships

This novel, yet proven, AI approach to the automotive industry will pave the way for safer and more autonomous transportation. Their strategy is to build strong partnerships with leading automotive players to bring their solution to the high-volume automotive marketplace by the end of next year. By partnering with these leading players Cartica AI has earned validation of its unique technology and business strategy.

A Paradigm-Shift from Other Approaches

The Cartica AI approach is based heavily on massive amounts of human-labeled data, rather than supervised deep machine learning. The traditional labeling process is time-consuming, expensive and unreliable for some scenarios. By contrast to deep-learning, Cartica AI enables unsupervised learning from real-world data, resulting in unprecedented accuracy for previously challenging scenarios. Based on already mature technology, Cartica AI’s platform is the result of more than a decade of research and development and is protected by more than 200 patents.

Perfectly Positioned for the Future

The next generation of AI capabilities, like the ability to predict road behavior and better understand a scene’s contextual elements, are already baked into Cartica AI’s platform. Plus, its computational resources are affordable for an average car. As the automotive industry is transitioning toward enhanced autonomy, Cartica AI is in a position to literally “transform mobility solutions in the automotive industry and beyond.” This company’s entirely novel approach to autonomous perception enables a wide range of compelling use cases even beyond automotive.

What this Breakthrough Means for All of Us

After expecting to see autonomous technology in our own cars for years, we will shortly have a platform that not only works but also will be affordable. Kudos to the Israeli venture capital group OurCrowd and to the automotive executives smart enough to support this development.
