Uni-Select Inc. has announced that it will be teaming up with l’Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agréés and will participate in the next edition of the Le Grand défi Pierre Lavoie, taking place from June 15 to 18, 2017. The Grand défi Pierre Lavoie’s mission is to encourage young people to adopt healthy life habits.
The team, comprised of four Uni-Select cyclists and a fifth cyclist representing l’Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agréés, will cycle 1,000 km from Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean to Montréal.
This event also is an opportunity to raise funds for the Grand défi Pierre Lavoie Foundation, to which the first $11,000 raised will be given. The surpluses raised during this event will be given to the La Broquerie primary school located in Boucherville, an establishment that welcomes more than 375 students from preschool to sixth grade. With 18 classes, including two language development and communication classes, the organizers say students can count on the educational services of a skilled team comprised of 20 teachers and specialists in English, music, dramatic arts and physical education.
Funds raised for this school will help finance an outdoor development project comprised of three phases as well as replace the tchoukball equipment and will allow young people from the region to be even more active. The Uni-Select/CRHA team’s goal is to raise the largest amount possible in order to support the faculty in its healthy lifestyle integration program among the establishments’ young people.
“I am one of those who believe that the influence of Pierre Lavoie’s movement also passes through business initiatives. It is a great privilege for me to have been able to build, in collaboration with Uni-Select and l’Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agréés, a team to bike the 1,000 km and to have encouraged a dozen of my colleagues at Uni-Select to register for La Boucle 2017,” said Patrick Dumais, team captain and vice president, human resources, Uni-Select Canada.
Uni-Select and l’Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agréés would like to thank its many sponsors and partners who helped allow the participation in this event, in particular the Fasken Martineau law firm, this edition’s major sponsor.
