United Auto Supply of Syracuse, Inc., based in Syracuse, NY, is the 10th new member to join the National Pronto Association this year. United Auto Supply serves the upstate New York market with 12 warehouse locations across upstate New York and Massachusetts. Selling exclusively to installers, United Auto Supply services more than 1,500 accounts on a daily basis, with more than 100 delivery vehicles, a sales force of 30 and a “hot shot” delivery service. The Car Care Council Women’s Board (WB) has announced the winners of the new Automotive Communications Awards (ACA). The awards were presented during the Women’s Board reception on Tuesday, Nov. 2 in Las Vegas, during AAPEX. The Automotive Communications Awards recognize companies/agencies that provide automotive information through outstanding advertising, marketing and PR efforts. The business-to-consumer awards have 14 categories for entry targeted to women, including car care clinics and direct mail piece or campaign/newsletter. The business-to-business awards consist of 21 categories with such options as logo design and special promotions and promotional events/trade show.

The Car Care Council Women’s Board will hold its seventh annual Car Care Council Women’s Board Reception on Tuesday, Nov. 2 at 5 p.m. in rooms 106 and 107 of the Sands Expo Center, during the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) in Las Vegas. During the reception, the Women’s Board will present the first-ever Aftermarket Woman of the Year award, as well as recognizing winners of the Automotive Communications Awards and the Women’s Boards’ scholarship recipient.

GM Service and Parts Operations to Build New Distribution Facility In Massachusetts

General Motors Service and Parts Operations (GM SPO) has selected Norton, Mass., as the site for a new Parts Distribution Center (PDC). Construction on the new 404,000-square-foot facility is scheduled to begin this month. SPO, headquartered in Grand Blanc, Mich., markets automotive replacement parts and accessories worldwide under the GM and ACDelco brand names. The new location will handle automotive replacement part shipments to more than 400 dealerships in seven states.

MEMA to Give Away Trip to Daytona 500 as Finale to 100-Year Anniversary

As a grand finale to the yearlong celebration of its 100-year anniversary and to say thanks to the product manufacturers who have made it possible, the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA) announced today that it will be giving away a trip for two to the 2005 Daytona 500 – the 47th annual “Great American Race.”

Delco Remy International Changes Name to Remy

As of Aug. 1, Delco Remy International, Inc. will be known simply as Remy International, Inc. The company is changing its corporate name to mark the tenth anniversary of its spin off from General Motors. The company said it will continue to market certain starters and heavy-duty alternators for original equipment and aftermarket customers under the Delco Remy trademark, which is licensed to the company by General Motors. The company will also add the Remy trademark to its brand portfolio for a variety of automotive products in addition to using Remy International as the new corporate name.
