Car Care Council Women’s Board Announces 2005 Scholarship Recipients

The Car Care Council Women’s Board have announced that Kimberly Layton of Anchorage, AK, is the recipient of the 2005 Women’s Board $1,000 post-secondary scholarship. Layton will be recognized during the Women’s Board reception on Tuesday, Nov. 1, at the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) in Las Vegas, Nev.

Genuine Parts Co. Reports First Quarter Results; Automotive Group Shows Steady Increase

Genuine Parts Co., on a conference call last Friday, said first-quarter earnings rose six percent as sales grew across its major business operations. Overall, the Atlanta-based company reported a profit of $106.6 million, or 61 cents per share, up from $100.2 million, or 57 cents last year. Sales grew 7 percent to $2.34 billion from about $2.2 billion. Automotive parts group net sales showed a 4 percent improvement to $1.17 billion from $1.13 billion last year.

Diesel Technician Electrical Training School Offered in March

The Association of Diesel Specialists (ADS) will present an electrical training school March 22-25 in Las Vegas. ADS is a non-profit international trade association focusing on the service and technology of diesel fuel injection, governor and turbocharger systems. All classes will be instructed by Tony Salas of Performance Automotive Techniques under contract exclusively to ADS. Salas is ASE master certified and holds a degree in automotive technology.
