AOCA Elects New Board Members

At its annual business meeting held April 24 in New Orleans, the members of the Automotive Oil Change Association, (AOCA), elected L. Ward Huntley to a three-year term on its board of directors. Huntley is the president of South Lubes, Inc., headquartered in Orange Park, Fla. The company operates 60 Jiffy Lube locations in Florida and North and South Carolina. Huntley has been a member of AOCA since entering the fast lube industry in 1994, and is the first franchisee to serve on AOCA’s board.

AOCA Announces New E-Learning Technician Academy Training

The Automotive Oil Change Association (AOCA) has launched a new e-Learning program focusing on technician training, part of its Technician Academy Training program. The program consists of eight interactive learning modules and quizzes corresponding to the chapters in the “Tech Academy,” as well as a technician certification test, consisting of 100 questions.

AOCA to Hold Annual Convention and Fast Lube Expo in April

The Automotive Oil Change Association (AOCA) will hold its annual convention and fast lube expo — AOCA & All That Jazz — from April 23-26, 2005, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. “Finishing touches are being put on what could be the greatest AOCA convention ever,” said Sue Ackley, president of AOCA. “We’ve added new topics, new speakers, more vendors and more to do on the exhibit floor. New educational offerings include sessions on working with the media and on knowing when to expand or sell your business. A special ‘Day in the Life of a Quick Lube’ video presentation is being compiled to share industry best practices in the realm of customer service.”

AOCA Second Edition Technician Academy Training Materials Now Available

The Automotive Oil Change Association (AOCA), a non-profit trade organization representing the convenient automotive maintenance industry, has released the second edition of its Technician Academy training materials. AOCA members who previously purchased Technician Academy, will be provided the updated version of the Technician Guide, Trainer Guide and Technician Workbook without charge.

Automotive Oil Change Association (AOCA) to Develop Online Training Program

After months of extensive research, the Automotive Oil Change Association (AOCA) has signed a contract with On-Line Learning Systems in Toronto, Ontario, for the development of an online training program. According to Steve Christie, executive director of AOCA, the e-learning project will allow AOCA to have its entire Technician Academy, which includes eight training modules, progress reporting and certification testing, accessible anywhere in the world via the Internet. This will include online payment of fees and automatic updating of the student database.
