Magnus Johansson Steps Down As CEO Of Mekonomen Group

Pehr Oscarson, managing director for the Group’s retail chains, MECA Scandinavia, will assume the role of acting president and CEO until a new CEO is in place.

 

mekonomenMekonomen Group, a leading automotive spare-parts chain in the Nordic region, has announced that Magnus Johansson has stepped down as president and CEO, effective immediately. Pehr Oscarson, managing director for the Group’s retail chains, MECA Scandinavia, will assume the role of acting president and CEO until a new CEO is in place.

The search process to find a new president and CEO for Mekonomen Group will be initiated immediately and will be led by Kenneth Bengtsson, chairman of the board in Mekonomen Group.

“Magnus Johansson has laid the groundwork for several key projects that will be of importance for Mekonomen Group’s competitiveness in the coming years. On my own and on behalf of the board I want to thank Magnus for his work. Given the opportunities and challenges that Mekonomen Group is facing, the board has decided that the time is right for a new leadership, where a new CEO can operate the next phase of Mekonomen Group’s development. The decision is not linked to the results of Mekonomen Group and the board stands behind the current strategy,” said Bengtsson.

Oscarson has held management positions in MECA since 2001. Since 2014, he has been managing director of MECA Scandinavia and since 2015, has been a member of the group management in Mekonomen Group.

“With Mekonomen Group’s strong brands and customer offering, I see that profitable growth will be the main focus. With support from our talented employees across the Group, I am looking forward to taking on the opportunities and challenges ahead of us,” said Oscarson.

Johansson assumed the role of president and CEO of Mekonomen Group in 2015 and has held management positions in Mekonomen Group since 2014. Johansson will be available to support the board and management during his period of notice of six months.
