KW Automotive Acquires Reiger Racing Suspension BV

KW automotive expands on its leadership position as a manufacturer of high-quality suspension systems.

Reiger Racing Suspension BV, a leader in the off-road, racing damper market, will be acquired by KW Beteiligungsholding GmbH on Jan. 1, 2021. With this acquisition, KW automotive expands on its leadership position as a manufacturer of high-quality suspension systems.

For more than four decades, Reiger Racing Suspension, a Dutch company, has focused on the development and production of premium off-road motorsport dampers. In the aftermarket industry, Reiger Racing Suspension is a known expert in the rally, rally raid, autocross, motocross, quad and sidecar markets. Keeping this sought-after expertise in-house, the motorsport components will continue to be manufactured at the Reiger Racing Suspension factory in the Netherlands. With the integration of Reiger Racing Suspension, offering one of the widest ranges of racing damper products, KW automotive will further expand its reach in the performance suspension industry and extend the KW brand to a new segment of customers.

Founded in the Netherlands in 1977, Reiger Racing Suspension, under the leadership of Reiger Racing Suspension founder Gerard Seesing, has built an impressive reputation in the development and production of dampers for the highly competitive, off-road motorsports market. Numerous automobile manufacturers rely on the dampers and suspension components produced at the Dutch plant in Hengelo for their rally raid, rallying, rally racing and motocross market needs. Among the greatest successes of the Reiger Racing Suspension factory customer teams are the repeated wins of the FIA World Rally Championship with M-Sport/Ford, the World Champion Rally Raid, the Intercontinental Rally Championship, and the Dakar Rally. With a distance of up to 7,900 kilometers over rocky terrain, gravel, sand and a high drop-out rate of over 50 percent, the Dakar Rally is regarded as the toughest desert rally in decades. The many podium finishes, class victories and five overall victories in 2012, 2014, 2018, 2019 and 2020 reflect the reliability and performance of Reiger’s off-road products. The ongoing dominance of Reiger Rally Dakar customers in South America in 2017, 2018, 2019 continued through 2020 in the host country of Saudi Arabia. Of the racers that placed with a top 10 finish, all but one of the vehicles were driven on reliable Reiger Racing suspension components. A similar result was also seen in the truck classification, with trucks weighing up to ten tons and producing almost 1,000 hp. Out of those racers in the truck classification who placed in the top 10, all but one raced on Reiger Racing suspension components.

KW automotive expands its technology leadership in further markets

The acquisition of Reiger Racing Suspension BV, under the new parent company KW automotive GmbH, will lead to greater synergy and further compliment the growth and technological leadership of the already successful KW brands. With the acquired knowledge, intellectual property and innovations, new aftermarket off-road damper products for trucks and SUVs will be developed under the Reiger Racing Suspension brand, while KW automotive’s unique manufacturing and logistics structures will manufacture and ship the product worldwide. KW’s global dealer network is expanding its portfolio with the help of Reiger Racing’s expertise and impressive motorsport record, by offering its customers around the world the most comprehensive range of high-performance suspension components for off-road, rally, circuit racing and road use. The Reiger Racing Suspension brand will be unveiled to the North American market in late 2021.
