ITT To Open State-Of-The-Art Automotive Friction Facility In Mexico

Preliminary brake pad production is expected to begin in late 2017, with full rate series production planned for the first quarter of 2018.

 

itt-logoITT Corp., through its Motion Technologies business, plans to open a new North American friction manufacturing facility in Silao, in Mexico’s Guanajuato state in 2017.

ITT is a diversified manufacturer of highly engineered components and customized technology solutions for the energy, transportation and industrial markets. ITT brands include Goulds Pumps, KONI shock absorbers, Cannon connectors and Enidine energy absorption devices. Founded in 1920, ITT is headquartered in White Plains, New York, and today has employees in more that 35 countries. The company generated 2015 revenues of $2.5 billion.

The new facility in Mexico will expand ITT’s global production capability for highly engineered brake pads for the automotive industry. Preliminary brake pad production is expected to begin in late 2017, with full rate series production planned for the first quarter of 2018.

The facility will implement state-of-the-art technology that adheres to ITT’s global standards, including advanced material science expertise and high levels of product consistency.

“We are stepping up our ability to intimately serve the needs of our North and South American customers with trusted brake solutions that help keep millions of people safe every day,” said Pasquale Barilla, general manager of ITT’s Friction Technologies business. “As a strong regional center for automotive manufacturing, Silao offers us the ability to enhance service and speed to market while maintaining our high-quality standards.”

In North America, ITT Friction Technologies also operates a research and development facility in Novi, Michigan. The business has a global presence that includes a research and development and production facility in Barge, Italy, and other major automotive operating locations in the Czech Republic and Wuxi, China, which was expanded in 2015.
