APC Announces Winners of NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Ticket Drawing

During each of the five A/C seminars that Automotive Cooling Products hosted this year, a pair of tickets to the August 12 NASCAR Nextel Cup race at the Michigan International Speedway were given away. Each winner received a pair of tickets to the race and two nights of lodging.

NHRA Tour de Force Storms Detroit

Legendary hot-rodder and storyteller John Force wants a major drag racing strip in the Detroit area, and he’s willing to invest time and money to make it happen. Force, the king of funny cars and one-liners, was in town last week for the Society of Automotive Engineers World Congress at Cobo Center, in Detroit. His job: to chat with engineers and shake hands with backers, including Ford Motor Co. executives, who support his passion to go fast over a quarter-mile.

CRC Industries to Sponsor NED NHRA King of the Track Program

John Robinson of CRC Industries, a Pennsylvania-based automotive chemicals manufacturer, has agreed to sponsor the NED King of the Track program beginning in 2004. The program will encompass all NHRA Division One member tracks.

Industry Veteran Bob Hall Loses Battle with Cancer

Industry veteran Bob Hall lost his battle with cancer on Monday, March 8, at his home in Carlisle, PA. He was 56 years old. Hall began his career as a sportswriter before moving on to MotorWeek and then becoming publicist for the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and later the Imperial Palace Auto Collection. In conjunction with those duties, he became host of “Las Vegas Motor Speedway on the Air,” a show that eventually evolved into “All About Cars,” the program he hosted until his death.

Centrix Financial Subsidiary to Acquire Rights To Grand Prix of Denver From Dover Motorsports

A wholly-owned subsidiary of Centrix Financial, a financial management and services firm, has announced its intention to acquire assets and rights to the Grand Prix of Denver from the Grand Prix Association of Long Beach, Inc. (Grand Prix), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dover Motorsports. Centrix’s subsidiary is currently conducting a due diligence process and said it will announce its final decision with regard to the acquisition of rights no later than March 12. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Bendix Brakes Expands Partnership with Pedregon Racing

Honeywell’s Bendix brakes has renewed its associate sponsorship with former Funny Car champion Cruz Pedregon for the 2004 NHRA POWERade drag racing series season. The brand has also expanded its involvement with the team by becoming an associate sponsor on 2003 Funny Car Champion Tony Pedregon’s Quaker State Funny Car.

CSK and NHRA to Educate Youth on Dangers of Street Racing

CSK Auto Inc. and the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) have joined forces to educate America’s youth of the dangers of street racing and the benefits of racing at licensed race tracks under controlled conditions. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, motor vehicle accidents are the leading cause of death for people aged 16 to 20. CSK Funny Car drivers Del Worsham and Phil Burkart, in conjunction with local police departments, are scheduling visits to high schools throughout the country to share their professional racing experience and offer firsthand knowledge of why drivers should “Race on the Track, Never on the Street.”
