MAHLE Motorsport Adds Options To Boost BMW Power

Company introduces PowerPak Pistons for the 5.0L V10 B50 or S85 Engine.

Now MAHLE Motorsport provides a budget-minded option to replace OE cast pistons standard with the B50 or S85 engine with its all-forged PowerPak piston kit designed for the 5.0: V10 B50 or S85 BMW engine. Manufactured from 4032 aluminum alloy for high-temperature strength and low noise, the pistons are dual-coated with MAHLE’s dry lubricant phosphate coating and a proprietary gold skirt coating (GRAFAL) for reduced wear and drag.

For engine builders looking to unleash power for the V10 BMW, MAHLE Motorsport, known for street and race track performance, provides a gas nitrided stainless 1.2mm, 1.2mm taper 2ndand 2.8mm oil ring set and steel pins with every PowerPak. Both the top and second ring lands are optimized for higher piston speeds and boosted pressure. For maximum durability, the top ring grooves are hard anodized to protect against micro-welding.

Available either in the factory compression ratio 12:2:1 or in a lower compression alternative – 10:1:1, the MAHLE Motorsport PowerPak features larger valve pockets to accommodate up to +1.0mm larger valves with an option for +0.5 oversize bore.
