Commercial Vehicle Group Inc. (CVG) has announced the construction of a new wire harness facility in Agua Prieta, Mexico. This facility will allow CVG to expand and enhance its capabilities for the construction, agriculture and specialty vehicle markets.
Approximately 90 people were on-hand for the official groundbreaking ceremony on Feb. 9, which was attended by local civic leaders and officials and CVG employees. The new 140,000-square-foot facility is being built on 13.92 acres adjacent to the company’s current operation in Agua Prieta. It is expected to be complete by the end of the year with capacity for 1,500 employees. Speaking at the ceremony, Director of Agua Prieta Operations Jaime Hernandez commented on the facility’s long history in the area and introduced 30 employees, who have been with the company since it opened the original Agua Prieta facility in 2000.
President and CEO Patrick Miller also was on hand for the groundbreaking ceremony and told the crowd, “We are proud of the partnership that has grown over the past 15 years between the Agua Prieta community, the city of Douglas, Arizona, and CVG. We have great confidence in our local CVG team and expect that they will manage this new round of investment to the same positive outcome as previous investments.”
