Valvoline to Sponsor NHRA Top Fuel Team in 2006

Valvoline this week announced it will sponsor the NHRA Top Fuel entry from David Powers Motorsports in 2006. Contract details were not announced. The agreement will include primary sponsorship at selected NHRA national events. The team has been sponsored by Valvoline, Mac Tools and DavidPowersHomes.com.

LEXINGTON, KY — Valvoline this week announced it will sponsor the NHRA Top Fuel entry from David Powers Motorsports in 2006.

Contract details were not announced. The agreement will include primary sponsorship at selected NHRA national events. The team has been sponsored by Valvoline, Mac Tools and DavidPowersHomes.com.

The driver of the Powers Top Fuel dragster is Las Vegas-based ‘Hot Rod’ Fuller, a 14-time NHRA National Event champion whose first pro victory came this season at Memphis. Fuller and David Powers Motorsports anchor a Valvoline-sponsored NHRA contingent of racers that includes perennial Pro Stock Top-10 contender Ron Krisher and a number of successful Sportsman drivers such as Bob Newberry, who this week wrapped up the 2005 NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car championship.

“We’re pleased to count David Powers Motorsports and Hot Rod Fuller among the long list of NHRA championship teams Valvoline has supported over the years,” said Valvoline Vice President of Marketing Rolf Linder. “The groundwork for this sponsorship was laid this year with the team’s performance while running a limited Top Fuel schedule. The team exhibits the high performance we celebrate at Valvoline.”

Valvoline and its Zerex, Eagle One and Pyroil brands are long-time NHRA contingency sponsors. Valvoline-sponsored drivers have won at all levels in NHRA and more racers at NHRA national events use Valvoline than any other motor oil, according to Valvoline.
