EVANSVILLE, IN — United Components, Inc. announced revenues of $274 million for the quarter, which ended on June 30. The company said sales increased 13.1 percent over the year-ago quarter, with volume increases in all market channels. Net income for the quarter was $10.2 million. For the second quarter of 2003, a net loss of $3.5 million was reported.
Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, or EBITDA, as adjusted pursuant to the company’s credit agreement for its senior credit facilities, was $37.7 million for the second quarter, compared with $28.2 million for the year-ago quarter.
Sales for the six months were $530.8 million, 10.9 percent higher than the comparable 2003 six month period. Net income for the six months ended 2004 and 2003 was $17.8 million and $18.8 million, respectively. EBITDA, as adjusted pursuant to the company’s credit agreement for its senior credit facilities, was $71.8 million in the 2004 period compared to $59.7 million in the 2003 six month period.
UCI ended the quarter with $31.1 million in cash. In the year since the June 20, 2003 acquisition, UCI has used cash flow from operations to reduce debt, net of cash, from $569 to $452 million. The cash flow has come from improvements in working capital, as well as improved profitability of operations.
