Timken Adds Automotive Wheel Bearing Grease to U.S. Product Line

Canton, Ohio-based Timken Co. is expanding its aftermarket product line with the addition of a new automotive wheel bearing grease that will complement the company’s full-line of bearings, hub assemblies, seals and kits. Timken’s new premium, high-temperature, red grease is formulated to handle the rigors of both disc and drum applications, according to the company. The grease is certified by the National Lubrication Grease Institute (NLGI) to meet the top-rated performance levels in both the chassis grease category (NLGI LB) and the wheel bearing grease category (NLGI GC).

ConocoPhillips Upgrades Selected Conventional Motor Oils to Synthetic Blends

ConocoPhillips announced that the company will upgrade selected conventional motor oils to synthetic blends with ILSAC GF-4, beginning immediately with its 5W-20 and 5W-30 mainline conventional oils. The new 5W-20 and 5W-30 synthetic blend oils will become available August 16. The product upgrade will be supported by an integrated marketing campaign that includes trade media advertising, direct mail and collateral. The trade media campaign will start in September.

2004 National Car Care Month Inspections Show 87 Percent Failure Rate

The Car Care Council has released the results of its annual National Car Care Month inspection campaign, which took place in April. This year’s results showed that 87 percent of the vehicles taking part in the program had at least one component that failed the inspection process. While the numbers dropped from 90 percent to 87 percent this year, these results continue to underscore the need for consumer education, said Rich White, executive director of the Car Care Council.
