Delco Remy International Changes Name to Remy

As of Aug. 1, Delco Remy International, Inc. will be known simply as Remy International, Inc. The company is changing its corporate name to mark the tenth anniversary of its spin off from General Motors. The company said it will continue to market certain starters and heavy-duty alternators for original equipment and aftermarket customers under the Delco Remy trademark, which is licensed to the company by General Motors. The company will also add the Remy trademark to its brand portfolio for a variety of automotive products in addition to using Remy International as the new corporate name.

New Video Details Importance of Motor Vehicle Product Suppliers

The Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA) has produced a new video that demonstrates the importance of the motor vehicle product manufacturing industry to the overall automotive industry and to the American economy. The 11-minute video, titled “The Importance of The Automotive Supplier: The Engine Behind the Largest U.S. Manufacturing Industry” was produced as a service to the industry by MEMA in conjunction with its 100-year anniversary celebration.

Goodyear Plans $50 Million Expansion in Colombia

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. is investing $50 million to expand manufacturing capabilities at its Cali, Colombia, manufacturing plant. The plant will produce radial medium truck tires. The investment solidifies Goodyear’s commitment to the growth of Colombian exports in certain Latin American countries, according to Eduardo Fortunato, president of Goodyear’s Latin America region. The tiremaker’s subsidiary, Goodyear de Colombia SA, celebrated its 60th anniversary in June.

Tier Parts Warehouse has awarded two scholarships to students enrolled in the Automotive Technology program at Broome County Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) and one scholarship for students at D.C.M.O BOCES. The scholarship program was originally developed in 2001, in conjunction with the 80th anniversary of Tier Parts Warehouse — a local family-owned company that operates and supplies 32 Parts Plus Autostores in central New York and northern Pennsylvania.
