Shell Racing Solutions Announces Distribution Agreement

Shell Racing Solutions has signed an agreement with Performance Products LLC to distribute Shell Racing Fuels to the U.S. motorsports industry. Performance Products has 15 years of experience in the U.S. race fuels business. Performance Products has serviced professional race series such as Indy Racing League (IRL) and Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART) and will distribute Shell Racing Solutions race fuels to top tier, as well as grassroots and club racing circuits.

Cooper Tire Increases Capacity at Ohio Plant

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. said it plans to add capacity at its Findlay, Ohio, tire plant with an equipment investment of $1.8 million. The capacity will increase by 500,000 tires annually and add at least 30 additional jobs in the Findlay production facility. The facility should be running at full production levels with new equipment in place by late summer.

Douglas Battery Wins Spartan Motors Supplier Award for Second Consecutive Year

Douglas Battery has been selected as a recipient of Spartan Motors’ “SPAR STAR” supplier performance award. The award is presented to suppliers who met or exceeded Spartan’s standards in product performance, on-time delivery, quality, value, service and customer care. With nearly 300 suppliers in the running, Douglas Battery, was one of only fifteen who qualified to receive the award.

GKN Updates Corporate Identity

Automotive driveline component supplier GKN Driveline has changed its name and logo as part of a recently adopted corporate identity program. Ted Rodewig, GKN Driveline’s marketing director, said the identity program is designed to bring new focus to the company by creating a common banner under which it will operate on a global basis.

The official tire of six NCAA conferences, Cooper Tire & Rubber is taking an experimental approach to building regional brand awareness through a series of pre-game and on-court interactive promotions at upcoming NCAA basketball games. “We’re aiming to activate our corporate partnerships by pushing our involvement past simple signage, and enhancing our consumer’s sports experience,” said Pat Brown, vice president of advertising and communications at Cooper Tire.

Moody’s Cuts ArvinMeritor Rating

ArvinMeritor Inc. said its debt rating was lowered to non-investment grade by Moody’s Investors Service and that the move will boost the company’s borrowing costs. Moody’s cut its rating on the Troy-based company’s long-term debt to Ba1, one level below investment grade, from Baa3, ArvinMeritor, said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The company makes truck axles and automotive exhaust systems. Moody’s said the downgrade reflects ArvinMeritor’s “relatively poor performance” in 2003 and the first quarter of 2004, a result of lower vehicle production and slow demand for heavy trucks.
