American Tire Distributors Acquires Martino Tire Wholesale Distribution Centers

American Tire Distributors (ATD) has reached an agreement to acquire the wholesale distribution centers of Martino Tire, further enhancing ATD’s service to tire retailers across the state of Florida. Martino Tire operated five wholesale distribution centers, 27 retail stores and two commercial centers. American Tire Distributors’ purchase only includes the five distribution centers, maintaining the company’s commitment to operate no retail locations, so as not to compete with the independent tire dealer.

Investcorp to Acquire American Tire Distributors

Investcorp, a global investment group, reached a definitive agreement today to acquire American Tire Distributors Inc. (ATD) from its majority shareholder, Charlesbank Capital Partners. Terms of the deal, which is expected to close in late March, were not announced. ATD is the largest independent tire distributor in the U.S., with 70 distribution centers in 35 states, servicing some 40,000 tire dealer locations across the country. Founded in 1935 as Heafner Tire Co., the company changed its name to ATD in 2002.

American Tire Distributors (ATD) has acquired the inventory of Dallas Wheels and Accessories, Inc., increasing the company’s commitment to the Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico markets. This news follows ATD’s acquisition in July of Big State Tire Supply, which serves those same markets. According to ATD, Dallas Wheels sales team will join the Big State American Tire Distributors organization.

American Tire Distributors Joins ACCC

American Tire Distributors (ATD), whose purchase of Target Tire’s wholesale business earlier this month created voids in American Car Care Centers’ (ACCC) program, has formally joined ACCC as a full member distributor. ATD will take over much of the ACCC territory previously covered by Target Tire, including all customers in North and South Carolina, Georgia and southeastern Tennessee.
