Pirelli Recognizes Top Suppliers

Every year, Pirelli hands out awards to just nine of more than 14,000 suppliers throughout its global supply chain. The Supplier Awards reward companies that have distinguished themselves in making Pirelli’s supply chain even more sustainable, innovative and of the highest possible quality.

Marco Tronchetti Provera, Pirelli’s vice president and CEO, commented, “The last two years have clearly shown how the role of suppliers is important for the business success of each company. Sharing an approach that is focused on quality, speed and transparency – as well as a commitment to continuous and sustainable innovation – has allowed us to remain competitive even during in this particularly challenging period. This is why we wanted to reward the companies that share these values with Pirelli, as our true partners.”

Pirelli’s strategy also was reiterated to suppliers, envisaging a roadmap for growth in the use of innovative materials derived from renewable or recycled sources, in order to achieve the objectives of the Group’s industrial plan. This provides more than 40% renewable materials to be used in specific product lines by 2025, along with at least 3% recycled materials and less than 40% of materials derived from fossil sources. By 2030, more than 60% renewable materials will be used, at least 7% of materials will be recycled, and materials of fossil origin will amount to less than 30%. Another important element to the sustainability of Pirelli’s supply chain is represented by the decarbonization process to which Pirelli’s partners are asked to contribute, in order to reduce CO2 emissions by 9% in 2025 compared to 2018. Maximum respect is also paid to respect for human and labor rights: all aspects to be taken into consideration when assigning the specific sustainability award.

The nine suppliers of raw materials, services and machinery that have distinguished themselves in the last year were awarded today by the Vice President and CEO, Marco Tronchetti Provera and Chief Procurement Officer, Andrea Maganzani, during a ceremony at Pirelli’s headquarters in Milan.

These are the companies rewarded in the 2021 edition of the Pirelli Supplier Awards:
