AAIA Board and Executive Committee Nominations Open

Nominations are now being accepted for the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association’s (AAIA) Board of Directors and Executive Committee. Individuals interested in being considered for nomination or nominating others are encouraged to do so by Wednesday, Aug. 20. Eleven current board member positions will expire in April 2009. Nominees for the three-year board terms of office must have served on an AAIA committee or segment committee for a minimum of one year and be employed by an AAIA member company in good standing. Candidates for the one-year executive committee terms of office must have served on the AAIA Board of Directors for a minimum of one year.

2008/09 Leadership 2.0 Class Nearly Sold Out

Just two spots remain in the 2008/09 class of the University of the Aftermarket’s Leadership 2.0 program, an MBA-level executive development experience designed specifically for aftermarket professionals. University of the Aftermarket Director Brian Cruickshank reported that 23 of the 25 available positions have been filled. To reserve one of the two remaining spots, aftermarket professionals are urged to contact university offices as soon as possible.

University of the Aftermarket to Offer In-Depth Look at Impact of Rising Fuel Costs During AWDA Conference

The University of the Aftermarket will present an exclusive executive-level business seminar covering the impact of rising petroleum prices on distributors during the 2008 Automotive Warehouse Distributors Association (AWDA) Business and Education Conference in Las Vegas this fall. The program, “The Petroleum Problem: Strategies and Solutions for Distributors,” will take place from 2 to 4:15 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2, at the Venetian Resort Hotel and Casino. The seminar, which will precede AWDA’s Sunday General Session, is open to all aftermarket professionals. Registration is free for AWDA members and just $50 for non-members.

Tim Wheeler Named North American Sales Director for Delphi Product & Service Solutions Independent Aftermarket Unit

Delphi has announced the appointment of Tim Wheeler as Delphi Product & Service Solutions’ (DPSS) Independent Aftermarket (IAM) North American sales director, effective July 1. Joining Delphi in 2001 as an independent aftermarket sales manager, Wheeler previously held various positions in aftermarket sales at Federal-Mogul for more than 12 years. Wheeler’s extensive aftermarket experience and passion for the customer will be well suited for the further expansion of Delphi and its team in his new position.

Aftermarket eForum Approved for University of the Aftermarket AAP and MAAP Credits

BETHESDA, Md. – The upcoming Aftermarket eForum has been approved for continuing education credits (CEU) by Northwood University’s University of the Aftermarket. The 2008 Aftermarket eForum is scheduled for July 14-16, at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Chicago. Aftermarket eForum attendees will earn 1.0 CEUs toward the Automotive Aftermarket Professional (AAP) or Master Automotive Aftermarket

Six Students Presented with 2008 CAWA Memorial Scholarship Awards

The California/Nevada/Arizona Automotive Wholesalers’ Association (CAWA) has announced the recipients of its 2008 Memorial Scholarship Program. Cameron Knight, of Carson City, Nev., who will be attending UTI/Carson City, was selected to receive the Mort Schwartz award, which is the highest award granted and is named after the scholarship program’s founder and former CAWA Chairman, Mort Schwartz. Five other students received scholarship funds as well.
