Truck-Lite’s McGowan Earns TMC Honor

Mike McGowan, director of Sales for Truck-Lite Co., was recently recognized by the Technology and Maintenance Council (TMC) of the American Trucking Association for outstanding contributions to the support of TMC meetings and its mission. McGowan has been an active member of TMC since 1991 and currently serves or has served in the past as a task force secretary, sergeant of arms and as a “TMC Buddy,“ assisting newcomers to the organization and encouraging participation. He has served on TMC’s Membership Contact Committee and recently volunteered as a member of the meeting mechanics.

Haldex to Supply Compressors

Haldex, a manufacturer and distributor of heavy-duty air brake system and suspension control system components, has signed a contract to supply air compressors to a major global engine manufacturer for its North American production. The company’s Air Management Division, a part of its Commercial Vehicle Systems business, will deliver the new air compressors beginning in late 2005. The contract is estimated to have a $75 million value over the life of the contract.

CFS Establishes Link with Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance

The Council of Fleet Specialist (CFS) recently announced it has established ties with the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA), a not-for-profit organization whose aim is to promote commercial motor vehicle safety and security by providing leadership to enforcement, industry and policy makers. According to CFS, connecting with CVSA will help enable the council to raise awareness of the role that distributors play in the heavy-duty market by highlighting the significant position they hold between manufacturers and end-users.

Institutional Investor Magazine Honors PACCAR Executive

PACCAR Chairman and CEO Mark Pigott has been recognized as one of the top three CEOs in the machinery sector by Institutional Investor magazine. In its January 2005 edition, Institutional Investor magazine published its annual survey rating the best CEOs in America by business sector. In its survey, the magazine asked portfolio managers and equity analysts to select the best-performing executives in the business segments they analyzed throughout the year.

Jose Maria Alapont Chosen as President and CEO of Federal-Mogul

Federal-Mogul Corp. has just announced that Jose Maria Alapont has been chosen to be the new president and CEO of the company. The appointment was authorized by the court presiding over Federal-Mogul’s Chapter 11 proceedings. Alapont also will join the board of directors of Federal-Mogul. Alapont, who served as CEO of IVECO, the commercial vehicle company of the Fiat Group, will replace Robert “Steve” Miller, who has been serving as interim CEO of Federal-Mogul since January 2004. Miller will continue to serve as chairman of Federal-Mogul’s board of directors.

MEMA Names Industry Veteran Bob McKenna as its New President

The Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA) has named Bob McKenna as its new president and CEO. The appointment is effective October 1. McKenna, who has 35 years of aftermarket industry experience, comes to MEMA from Atlanta-based Genuine Parts Company (GPC) where he served as group vice president and chairman of the board for the National Automotive Parts Association (NAPA).

Uni-Select and MAWDI Join Forces in the U.S.

Uni-Select Inc. announced today that, through its subsidiary Uni-Select USA, Inc, it has entered into a binding agreement to join forces with Middle Atlantic Warehouse Distributor, Inc. (MAWDI) in line with its U.S. strategy. MAWDI, which is based in Tonawanda, NY, is a warehouse distributor that operates 31 distribution centers and 145 corporate stores in 18 states. The transaction involves the purchase of all of the stock of MAWDI for cash or a combination of cash and shares. It has also been agreed that MAWDI’s President Jim Buzzard will assume the leadership of Uni-Select USA as its new executive vice president and that, subject to shareholders’ approval, Clay Buzzard will join the board of directors of Uni-Select Inc.

Bendix-Dana Joint Venture Completes Management Team Selection

Completing its leadership team selection, Bendix Spicer Foundation Brake LLC, a new joint venture between Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC and Dana Corp., announced the appointment of Bill Mossing as assistant general manager. Mossing will join Kishor Pendse, president of the new business.
