2007 Aftermarket eForum Offers Informative Educational Track Sessions; Early-Bird Registration Deadline Extended

Three in-depth educational track sessions on hot industry issues will be offered during the first day of the 2007 Aftermarket eForum, July 16-18 at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Chicago. All three sessions will run concurrently from 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, July 16. In addition, the early-bird registration deadline for the 2007 Aftermarket eForum has been extended to June 15.

Federated Inducts Affinia’s John Washbish into the Federated Vendor Hall of Fame

Federated Auto Parts honored John Washbish of Affinia as the 2006 Federated Vendor Hall of Fame inductee at its annual meeting held in San Diego, April 25-28. “Each year Federated selects an outstanding individual to be inducted into the Federated Hall of Fame,” said Rusty Bishop, CEO of Federated Auto Parts. “Past Federated Hall of Fame inductees include Frank Doria of USA Industries (2005), Matt Forner of Grote (2004), Mike Howarth of KYB America (2003), Jack Nihart of PTC Industries (2002) and Ken Kee of Dayco (2001).”

Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance Holds Annual Winter Meeting in Sunny Florida

The shareholders of Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance, Inc. gathered in Boca Raton, FL, for the group’s annual winter meeting held Dec. 2-6. Each shareholder of the Alliance was represented. The meeting is a culmination of the past year’s efforts of Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper parts stores and certified service centers. Reports and breakout meetings focusing on marketing, product and education were reviewed. New vendors were reviewed and approved and the 2007 marketing strategy was presented.

Vange Proimos of AP Exhaust Elected Chairman of AASA

Vange Proimos, president of AP Exhaust in Goldsboro, NC, has been elected chairman of the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA) Board of Governors. Proimos and his brothers founded the USA Muffler Shop chain in the 1970s. The business grew to more than 20 shops throughout northeast Indiana and included a distribution center to service the muffler shops. In 1994, he and his family started Catco Catalytic Converters, known today as one of the largest aftermarket converter manufacturers in the country. Catco specializes in universal, direct fit and OBDII technology converters. In 1998, Proimos acquired the AP Exhaust Aftermarket Division with manufacturing facilities in Goldsboro, NC. Manufacturing exhaust products for the past several years under the Goerlich’s, Merit, TruckEx and Xlerator brands, the company will begin to market their products as AP Exhaust in 2007.

A new nationwide program that helps victims of domestic violence and abuse gain their freedom through the donation of refurbished cars has been launched by Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper. This unprecedented vehicle gift program is sponsored by the warehouses, parts stores and certified service centers flying the Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper flags. Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance, parent company of Auto Value and Bumper to Bumper, announced the new program yesterday at AAPEX.
