Joe Felicelli To Be AASA’s New Chairman

Joe Felicelli, executive vice president, worldwide aftermarket operations, for Federal-Mogul Corp. in Southfield, Mich., will take the reins as the new chairman of the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA) on Monday, Nov. 1, at the group’s board meeting in Las Vegas. Felicelli is the second aftermarket executive to serve as leader of the association, established in 2002. Current Chairman Charley Johnson, president and CEO of TransPro Inc., in New Haven, Conn., will step down as the group’s first chairman at the November meeting.

Town Hall at AAPEX To Tackle Auto Repair Image

“Repairing the Auto Repair Image” will be the theme of this year’s Town Hall, which takes place on Nov. 3 during AAPEX in Las Vegas. NASCAR is the official sponsor of the popular breakfast event. Six individuals, representing a new car dealer, the world’s largest motorist membership organization, an independent shop owner, a retailer and manufacturers will comprise the panel on stage at the Town Hall breakfast event, according to the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA).

MEMA Elects New Chairman and Officers; Delphi’s Alan Dawes to Serve as 2004-2005 MEMA Chairman

Alan Dawes, vice chairman and CFO of Delphi Corp., has been elected 2004-2005 chairman of the Motor and Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA) Board of Directors. Outgoing MEMA Chairman Scott Meyer, who stepped down as president of Ken-Tool, was named MEMA president until a permanent president and CEO is found. As a result, Ronald Cutler, TRW Automotive, will continue to serve on the board as past chairman.

IAPA Holds Annual Meeting, Honors Outstanding Vendors

San Francisco and the Sonoma Wine Country provided the backdrop for the Independent Auto Parts of America (IAPA) recent annual membership meeting. IAPA’s 192 members, along with family, manufacturers, suppliers and guests attended the event, which took place at the world-renowned Fairmont Hotel on May 22-25.

MEMA Holds Second Annual Counterfeiting Seminar

MEMA presented its second annual seminar dedicated to the issue of counterfeiting of automotive and truck parts. The event, “Taking Action Against Automotive/Truck Parts Counterfeiting, Diversion and IPR Violations” was held on Monday, April 5 at the Hyatt Regency in Dearborn, Mich. Described by Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA) Vice President Paul Foley as a “major industry initiative,” the seminar was developed to educate the industry on the nuances of counterfeiting, share best practices, solicit media support and provide networking and exhibitor opportunities.
