Federated Recognizes Outstanding Supplier Support

Federated Auto Parts has presented Outstanding Supplier Support Awards to companies that achieved exceptional success in each of six categories in 2007. The awards were presented on April 24 at Federated’s annual meeting in Dallas.

Pronto Holds Successful Spring Shareholder’s Conference in Atlanta

National Pronto Association held its Spring Shareholder’s Conference April 8-10 at the Omni Hotel at CNN Center in Atlanta, Ga. Despite tornado damage to the hotel and the downtown Atlanta area, more than 60 warehouse distributor shareholders and more than 70 vendor partners attended the three-day meeting. This meeting was primarily structured as one-on-one sessions between shareholders and suppliers, whereby the supplier had the opportunity to host up to 15 sessions over a two-day period. All together 900 one-on-one meetings took place.

Don’t Ignore Lost Sales, APA Members Hear at Annual Conference

Parts professionals can no longer ignore lost sales, attendees at Automotive Parts Associates’ (APA) annual conference in San Antonio heard. The confluence of reduced consumer spending, a lagging economy and automotive industry doldrums mean aftermarket professionals must capitalize on every customer interaction to make the sale, said Jeff Levine, chairman of the APA board, and owner of Levine Auto & Truck Parts in Danbury, CT . “Lost sales are lost opportunities. Lost sales mean loss of a customer,” Levine said during Saturday morning’s general session held at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in downtown San Antonio. “We are all throwing business away whether we like it or not. We need every sale we can make.”

Northwood University to Honor Seven Aftermarket Professionals

Northwood University will honor seven automotive aftermarket leaders with its annual Automotive Aftermarket Education Award on Tuesday, Oct. 30 at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. The awards will be presented during a luncheon at the annual Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo Show (AAPEX). Northwood’s Automotive Aftermarket Education Award recognizes leaders for their contributions to the educational process in the automotive aftermarket field. The award was created to insure that these individuals receive national recognition for their efforts to improve education inside and outside the industry.

Affinia Group’s WIX Filtration Wins 2006 Supplier of Excellence Award from NAPA Canada

Affinia has received NAPA Canada’s 2006 Supplier of Excellence Award, recognizing the company for most outstanding vendor support and service as well as marking the company’s second major award from channel partner NAPA for 2006. Affinia’s NAPA Filters was presented with the 2006 Canadian Supplier of Excellence Award in Montreal on Feb. 12, and they received the 2006 U.S. Spirit of NAPA Award in December.

Johnson Controls Named ‘Corporation of the Year’ for Diversity Efforts

Johnson Controls was recently selected as "Corporation of the Year" for 2006 by the Central and South Texas Minority Business Council (CSTMBC) for its outstanding achievements in developing diverse supplier companies. Representatives from CSTMBC presented Johnson Controls with the top honors at the group’s 2006 Awards Banquet earlier this month. Kenneth Gardner, diversity business development manager for the Automotive Experience business of Johnson Controls, accepted the award. The event, attended by more than 300 people, was held at the Marriott Rivercenter hotel in San Antonio, TX.

Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance Holds Annual Winter Meeting in Sunny Florida

The shareholders of Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance, Inc. gathered in Boca Raton, FL, for the group’s annual winter meeting held Dec. 2-6. Each shareholder of the Alliance was represented.
