S.A. Day Mfg. Co. President Steps Down After Nearly Five Decades

After a career that has spanned nearly five decades, Paul Conn, president of the S.A. Day Manufacturing Co., has announced his retirement. Conn stepped down from his post on Oct. 1. Jackson (Jay) Bowling will be taking over as president at S.A. Day. The S.A. Day Mfg. Co., Inc. is an ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001 certified manufacturer of flux for the soldering of copper/brass and flux for the soldering and brazing of aluminum heat exchangers.

Goodyear Assurance Merchandising Displays Win Honors

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has been recognized for the creative merchandising and selling tools developed to support its new line of Assurance auto tires. The honors were handed out at the POP (Point-of-Purchase) Show, which focuses on the best in-store marketing ideas used in all varieties of retail outlets, including grocery chains, convenience stores, apparel and durable goods retailers. Three Goodyear Assurance items were honored with awards at the show.

The Car Care Council Women’s Board will hold its seventh annual Car Care Council Women’s Board Reception on Tuesday, Nov. 2 at 5 p.m. in rooms 106 and 107 of the Sands Expo Center, during the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) in Las Vegas. Cummins Mourns the Loss of Former Chairman and CEO J. Irwin Miller

Cummins Inc. has issued a statement mourning the death of Joseph Irwin Miller, who died this week at the age of 95. Miller was born in Columbus, Ind. in 1909. J. Irwin Miller built Cummins from a family business into a Fortune 500 company with more than 25,000 employees in 131 countries and more than $6 billion in annual sales. He is credited for transforming his hometown of Columbus, Ind., into a city of architectural wonders, earning it the nickname the Athens of the Prairie. The company said he will be eulogized as a great business leader, social activist and philanthropist whose influence will continue well into the 21st century.

ArvinMeritor Reports Third Quarter Results

ArvinMeritor reported record sales of $2.4 billion and net income of $53 million, or 77 cents per diluted share, for the third quarter, which ended on June 30. These numbers compare to the prior fiscal year’s third quarter net income of $47 million, or 69 cents per diluted share. Sales increased $279 million, or 13 percent, from the prior year’s third quarter.

Federal-Mogul Receives Frost & Sullivan National Customer Value Enhancement Award

Federal-Mogul’s aftermarket friction team was recently recognized for the development and introduction of its Wagner ThermoQuiet premium brake pads. Consulting firm Frost & Sullivan honored the team with the 2004 Frost & Sullivan Customer Value Enhancement Award, during its recent Customer Value Awards Banquet in Boston.
