AFC Finishing Systems Partners with Chip Foose and Foose Design

AFC Finishing Systems, a manufacturer of spray booths and finishing equipment, has partnered with Chip Foose and Foose Design on the installation of an AFC Quadraft Spray Booth in Foose’s Huntington Beach, Calif., facility. The AFC Quadraft Spray Booth will provide Foose Design with the ability to paint on premises.

First-Ever Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week Planned for 2006

Make room on your calendar for February 2006, when the first ever Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week is scheduled to take place. The new event will feature a trade show, training, educational and social functions and one-on-one business meetings. The new Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week was created in response to requests from manufacturers, distributors and truck fleet/heavy duty service specialists to reduce the number of meetings and redundancy in the heavy duty aftermarket.

The Numbers Are In: AAIW 2004 Shatters Attendance Record

More than 117,000 people attended Automotive Aftermarket Industry Week (AAIW) this year, shattering record attendance numbers from 2003 by approximately 12,000, according to show organizers. This year marked the inaugural year of the International Autobody Congress & Exposition (NACE) being held in conjunction with AAIW. NACE organizers reported total attendance of 30,243 in 2004, representing a 26 percent increase over the previous year. NACE experienced a 13 percent growth with more than 500 companies occupying 2,000 booths.

Three Take Top Honors in 2004 AAPEX New Packaging Awards

With most everyone in the industry getting back to work after the successful and productive Automotive Aftermarket Industry Week, there is still some important news from the show shuffling in. Three aftermarket manufacturers took top honors in the 2004 Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) New Packaging Awards, held Nov. 2 during the annual trade event sponsored by the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA) and the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA).

Street Glow Announces the Creation of Street Glow International

Street Glow Inc., which produces performance lighting products for the aftermarket, has announced the creation of Street Glow International, an affiliate of Street Glow, Inc. In June of this year Street Glow announced that it had signed a letter of intent to sell a portion of ownership to a Chinese investment group called Street Glow (Hong Kong), Ltd. This group includes members from Street Glow’s long-time Chinese vendor which manufactures virtually all of the Street Glow brand of Auto-Neon and performance lighting products. This announcement marks the completion of that sale.

Cosworth Technology Forms New Aftermarket Group

Cosworth Technology, Inc. (CTI), an independent consultant and supplier of powertrain and diagnostic engineering services to the global automotive industry, has announced the formation of a new aftermarket product group. The new aftermarket division, called “powerworks” will develop performance enhancement products and systems, supercharger systems in particular, for vehicle power trains ranging from 4 cylinder 2-liter engines up to large 8 cylinders engines (5+ liters).

TIA Announces 2004 Tire Industry Hall of Fame Inductees

The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has announced the names of those who will be inducted into the Tire Industry Hall of Fame for 2004. John Lampe, retired chairman, CEO and president of Bridgestone Americas, and Mario Marangoni, chairman, CEO and president of the Marangoni Group were chosen by a selection committee for their achievements and leadership that have helped shaped the tire industry.

iATN and ASA to Co-Host Automotive Service Professionals Reception During AAIW

The International Automotive Technicians’ Network (iATN) and the Automotive Service Association (ASA) will jointly sponsor the third annual Service Professionals Industry Reception from 6 p.m.-9:30 p.m. on Nov. 4 in the Sunset Ballroom of the Flamingo Las Vegas. According to Brent Black, iATN founder and president, the reception now brings together more service professionals than any other single event during Industry Week.
