NOPI Nationals Supershow Will Go On As Scheduled

The NOPI Nationals Motorsports Supershow, the largest import / compact car show in the world, will return to the Atlanta Motor Speedway as scheduled, September 17-18, 2005, despite the recent tornado produced by the remnants of Tropical Storm Cindy.

ATLANTA — The NOPI Nationals Motorsports Supershow, the largest import / compact car show in the world, will return to the Atlanta Motor Speedway as scheduled, September 17-18, 2005, despite the recent tornado produced by the remnants of Tropical Storm Cindy. The storm caused millions of dollars worth of structural damage to the Speedway, but the track surface and infield remain in good working condition at this time.

“The Atlanta Motor Speedway will be ready for the NOPI Nationals in September and the October NASCAR race,” said Brandon Hutchison, Director of Events, Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Crowds in excess of 110,000 are expected to be on-hand to view the myriad of displays, exhibitions and contests, while more than 7,000 cars and trucks will be competing for more than $100,000 in cash and prizes.

“The NOPI family, along with the rest of Atlanta, was affected by the severe weather last week,” said Michael Meyers, president of NOPI Motorsports. “Thankfully the show can go on as planned. Every year our fans look forward to the NOPI Nationals and through the support of our sponsors, fans and community, this year’s event will be even bigger and better than last.”

The 2005 NOPI Nationals Motorsports Supershow will include: car shows featuring seven divisions with more than 300 classes and more than 6,000 cars; a performance from hip-hop artist Kudzu; Tour 2005, a caravan of import / compact cars; USAC Sound Quality contest; IASCA audio competition; Db Drags competition; Battle of the Bands; Hydraulic Jump-Offs; Scorched Earth Burnout Contest and High Horsepower Dyno Contest.

The gates will open at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, September 17th and 18th. Atlanta Motor Speedway is located at 1500 Highways 19 & 41 South in Hampton, GA. For more information visit nopi.com or call 404-366-4700.
