NHRA’s Gary Gardella To Appear At DuPont Hot Hues SEMA Booth

Riding the crest of an 12-race winning streak, Gary Gardella and his 2005 Chevy Cobalt are set to appear at the DuPont Hot Hues booth at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show Nov. 1-4 in Las Vegas.

WILMINGTON, DE — Riding the crest of an 12-race winning streak, Gary Gardella and his 2005 Chevy Cobalt are set to appear at the DuPont Hot Hues booth at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show Nov. 1-4 in Las Vegas.

DuPont co-sponsors Gardella in the NDRA (NOPI Drag Racing Association) and NHRA (National Hot Rod Association). As part of the sponsorship, the Cobalt is finished with Hot Hues new “Hot Candy Colors Apple Red” dye concentrate over a “Psycho Silver” basecoat.

Gardella’s ongoing winning streak has been marked by record-setting times. On May 14, Gardella Racing broke the national record with a 7.932 elapsed time (ET) at 176.81 mph. After a short staging duel in the final round, he took the win with an 8.003 ET at 176.71 mph and backed up the national ET record, setting it at 7.93 ET.

Gardella, who kicked off his professional racing career during the 2001-2002 season, is co-owner of County Line Auto Body in Howell, NJ. His shop and its four painters use DuPont Refinish products in their collision repair business.

“Mainly we do insurance work, about 50 to 65 cars a week,” he said, “so I was unfamiliar with custom finishes until our sales rep introduced us to Hot Hues. I really like the product and so do our painters. I think the combination of the apple red candy and silver base really make our car stand out at the track.”

In addition to the Chevy Cobalt, driver Gary Gardella will make an appearance on Nov. 2 and 3 to greet attendees and answer questions in the Hot Hues booth (#22384 in the Central Hall in Hot Rod Alley).

Hot Hues will have an additional booth, #22293, that will feature two new products and numerous panels showcasing all Hot Hues products. Other major events scheduled for the booth include: the debut of the ‘57 Chevy built by Street & Performance, the unveiling of a Hot Hues designed No. 24 NASCAR; appearances by No. 24 car driver Jeff Gordon and Chip Foose; and an appearance by Boyd Coddington to sign autographs.

Hot Hues also will present a technical seminar on the application of special effect finishes on Tuesday, Nov. 2. To find out more about any Hot Hues products or programs, visit hothues.dupont.com or call 1-800-GET-DUPONT.
