CHARLOTTE, NC — ‘NASCAR Performance Live,’ a one-hour radio show that focuses on the technical side of NASCAR, kicks off its second season today on XM Satellite Radio (Channel 144) and approximately 70 Motor Racing Network (MRN) Radio affiliates throughout the country.

The program’s talk show format, airing live Wednesday evenings from 7-8 p.m. EST, features NASCAR crew chiefs and other team members giving fans insight into the technical aspects and the behind-the-scenes teamwork it takes to build championship race cars and win races. This season every show will feature NASCAR Performance Car Care Advocate Mark Salem discussing ways for NASCAR fans to better care for their vehicles in the Be Car Care Aware Tip of the Week.

The 2005 debut will broadcast in front of a live audience at Daytona USA, while all remaining shows will originate from a special radio studio at NASCAR Technical Institute in Mooresville, N.C. All shows will be hosted by MRN Pit Road Reporter Steve Post. Alongside Post will be former crew chief and current color analyst for NASCAR on FOX, Larry McReynolds and several active crew chiefs tackling some of the hot competition topics in NASCAR.

The first show of the 2005 season will feature Matt Borland, crew chief for the Penske Racing No. 12 ALLTEL Dodge, a drop-in appearance by 2005 Budweiser Shootout winning crew chief, Hendrick Motorsport’s Chad Knaus, and Mike Ford, crew chief of the No. 88 UPS Ford Taurus for Robert Yates Racing.

“NASCAR Performance Live is about the great professionals who prepare these cars for competition and the incredible work and strategy that goes into winning a NASCAR NEXTEL Cup, NASCAR Busch Series or NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race,” said Mark Dyer, NASCAR’s vice president of licensing and consumer products. “This show will focus on the cars and the teams that put these machines under these great drivers, and everyone behind the scenes who plays a big role in the sport 75 million Americans love.”

NASCAR Performance Live goes beyond just the technical aspects of the sport by spotlighting the team side of NASCAR racing. The show will showcase the crew chiefs, pit crew members, and the men and women at the race shop, allowing listeners to get to know and appreciate the people who make NASCAR teams perform at the highest levels at the racetrack, week in and week out.
