STRONGSVILLE, OH — The custom built “Charity Chopper,” a collaboration between Ray Evernham of Evernham Motorsports, renowned motorcycle builder Dave Perewitz and PPG Automotive Refinish now sports autographs of several NASCAR celebrities and drivers. The bike will be auctioned on eBay Motors beginning Sept. 30, 2005 with all proceeds benefiting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing support and information to patients, their caregivers and families.
On the PPG-painted side panels beneath the chopper’s seat are the signatures of Ray Evernham, president and CEO of Evernham Motorsports; Dale Earnhardt, Jr., driver of the No. 8 Budweiser Chevrolet; Rusty Wallace, driver of the No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge; Tony Stewart, driver of the No. 20 Home Depot Chevrolet and Kasey Kahne; driver of the No. 9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge. The bike is also autographed by its builder, Dave Perewitz of Perewitz Cycle Fab.
“These autographs will appreciably increase the value of this one-of-a-kind spectacular bike,” said Ann Donati, PPG advertising & communication manager, North America. “We’re hoping the auction of this bike will raise a significant dollar amount to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.”
The lucky winning bidder of the Charity Chopper auction will receive a special scrapbook containing photos and articles about the project that have been published since it was introduced in March. The scrapbook also contains the autographs of numerous NASCAR personalities who have supported the initiative, making it an excellent keepsake along with the chopper itself. The winning bidder will be presented with the Charity Chopper and scrapbook at Texas Motor Speedway at the November NASCAR race weekend.
The auction is scheduled to begin on eBay Motors on Sept. 30 and conclude on Oct. 9. For more information about the Charity Chopper and the upcoming auction, go to ebay.com/charitychopper.
