ECARX, smart Form JV to Develop Intelligent Auto Products

The joint venture will focus on technological advances, research and development and global expansion.

ECARX Holdings Inc., a global mobility technology provider, announced the creation of a joint venture with smart, an electric auto brand, to enhance intelligent technology in smart vehicles. The joint venture, named smart (Zhejiang) Software Technology Co., Ltd., will focus on technological advances, research and development and global expansion.

The collaboration between ECARX and smart began with the development of the smartOS for the smart No. 1 and No. 3 models. This new venture aims to further the relationship by utilizing both companies’ resources and expertise to improve smartOS, streamline supply chains and integrate skilled technical teams for vehicle development, the companies said.

The partnership plans to incorporate ECARX’s Makalu computing platform with AMD processors and GPUs into smart’s vehicle models, aiming to boost customer satisfaction and brand loyalty. Additionally, they intend to explore new immersive cockpit experiences and deepen cooperation in other areas.

Tong Xiangbei, global CEO of smart Automobile, expressed the brand’s commitment to leading in intelligent technology and providing high-quality mobility experiences. Ziyu Shen, co-founder, chairman and CEO of ECARX, emphasized the continued effort to expand its intelligent technology ecosystem to vehicle owners worldwide.
