BETHESDA, MD — More than 400 National Car Care Month vehicle check-lane events were held during April, according to Rich White, executive director of the Car Care Council. This is twice the amount of events held in 2004, said White.
“We are thrilled that more than 400 vehicle check-up events were held in April,” said White. “And, that is just the number or events we knew about. This remarkable increase means that our messages about the importance of preventative vehicle maintenance are reaching both the industry and the motoring public.”
In 2005, vehicle check-lane events were conducted in all 50 states by independent repair shops and auto parts stores, as well as high schools, vocational schools, junior colleges and universities.
“Major distributors to small, independent service shops have realized how the ‘Be Car Care Aware’ campaign, and more specifically, National Car Care Month, can help their businesses,” said White. “We have already started preparations for April 2006 and we know even more aftermarket companies and independents will get involved in National Car Care Month when they see the success rate that has already occurred.”
