BEREA, OH — CORSA Performance Exhausts has stepped up in 2005 as primary sponsor of the two-car Powell Motorsport Cadillac CTS-V Team, which competes in the Grand American Road Racing Association’s Grand-Am Cup Series.
“As series champions in 2001, the Powell Motorsport team has shown they can race amongst the best, and we are excited to watch their progress in 2005,” said Gautam Pathak, director of product development, CORSA Performance. The CORSA Performance logo is prominently displayed on the hood and fenders of the Powell Motorsport CTS-V.
In 2001, the Powell Motorsport team was the Grand-Am Cup champions, and finished second in 2002. The team consists of drivers Devon Powell, Don Knowles, Norm Guindon and Marc Antoine Camirand.
“By using CORSA Performance exhausts, we’ve been able to meet the noise requirements placed on our vehicles without giving up any power from the engine,” said John Powell, team owner.
Due to noise regulations instituted by the series in 2004, Powell Motorsport needed an exhaust system that tuned out excessive noise, without losing power from the engine. CORSA Performance created a mandrel-bent exhaust system with specially tuned racing noise attenuators. “Our relationship with Powell Motorsport has given us the opportunity to research and test new product for the Cadillac line,” added Pathak. “As a result, we have developed a CTS-V system for street vehicles. What better arena for CORSA to showcase our unique, high-performance exhaust technology than at these races with the Powell Motorsport Team.”
