Auto Care Association Partnership: American Council Of Young Political Leaders

Auto Care Association Establishes New Partnership With American Council Of Young Political Leaders

Auto Care Association President and CEO Bill Hanvey hosted a dinner for the delegation, also attended by Aaron Lowe, Auto Care Association senior vice president, regulatory and government affairs, and department staff.

The Auto Care Association kicked off its new partnership with the American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL) by hosting a seven-person delegation of rising political leaders from Australia in Washington, D.C., on July 23. Auto Care Association President and CEO Bill Hanvey hosted a dinner for the delegation, also attended by Aaron Lowe, Auto Care Association senior vice president, regulatory and government affairs, and department staff.

The delegation had members across the Australian political spectrum, including:

  • Andrew Bragg, executive director, Business Council of Australia, Liberal Party
  • Ruby Cameron, senior adviser, Office of Senator Bridget McKenzie, National Party
  • Shaun Crow, research assistant, Department of Parliamentary Services, Labor Party
  • Alexander Mills, data and systems officer, Office of Senator Richard Di Natale, Greens
  • Megan Purcell, senior adviser, Office of Senator Michaelia Cash, Liberal Party
  • Anika Wells, federal candidate for the Division of Lilley, Labor Party

The Australian delegation represented multiple parties from Down Under, with several members currently serving in government positions. Topics discussed were international commerce, tariffs and trade, as well as the future of the global automotive supply chain. The ACYPL is a 50-year-old organization based in Washington, D.C., with a focus on fostering exchanges abroad and in the U.S. so that political figures and policymakers can engage face-to-face.

“As a new partner of the ACYPL, the Auto Care Association is excited for the opportunity to nominate individuals from our communities or affinity groups (e.g., Young Auto Care Network Group) for annual, ongoing outbound delegations to other countries,” said Hanvey. “Partnering with the ACYPL will give our members greater insight on international markets and potential opportunities to expand their businesses across borders. It also will play an important role in our association’s strategic pillar to grow the auto care industry’s political influence on both a national and international scale.”
