Activant Reports Successful Launch of New Jobber Management System Product

Activant Solutions recently launched a new Windows-based Jobber Management System (JMS) designed for small and mid-sized auto parts distributors. According to Jonathan Gear, vice president of marketing for Activant, the new JMS system can serve as a replacement for older (CCITRIAD) systems such as Series 12 or Loadstar.

AUSTIN, TX — Activant Solutions recently launched a new Windows-based Jobber Management System (JMS) designed for small and mid-sized auto parts distributors.

Activant is a leading provider of business management solutions for high-distribution environments, with more than 17,000 specialty wholesale, retail and manufacturing customers. The company’s business management solutions include advanced software, professional services, content, supply chain connectivity and analytics.

According to Jonathan Gear, vice president of marketing for Activant, the new JMS system can serve as a replacement for older (CCITRIAD) systems such as Series 12 or Loadstar. “Thus far, JMS has gained widespread appeal among small and mid-size independent distributors, many of whom previously had no computer system,” Gear said.

Activant JMS combines next-generation business management capabilities, a fully integrated accounting system, e-commerce connectivity and the Activant LaserCat automotive parts e-catalog. Features of the JMS system are combined in a turnkey package priced to meet the budget of most small and mid-size distributors. According to Gear, taking a closer look at the marketplace, the company discovered a surprising lack of technology at many smaller distributors.

“Part of our development process for JMS obviously was to look at glaring needs in the marketplace,” said Gear. “There is a surprising number of smaller distributors and independent jobbers that either have no computer system or a system that is so outdated that it provides only limited value from a competitive standpoint.”

Gear also noted: “Many of these business owners have historically been reluctant to invest in technologies because they are afraid of the transition will be too cumbersome and expensive or they simply intend to close their business upon retirement. What they don’t realize is that with a very modest investment in a Windows-based platform, their business could become a marketable asset to a future owner.”
