MEMA Launches New Web Site for Brand Protection, Counterfeiting Issues

A new Web site that focuses on the growing problems of counterfeited motor vehicle parts and other brand protection related issues is now live at www.mema.org . Produced and maintained by the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA), the web site was designed to be a portal where the industry can go to obtain information relating to the issues of intellectual property and brand protection for motor vehicle products.

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — A new Web site that focuses on the growing problems of counterfeited motor vehicle parts and other brand protection related issues is now live at www.mema.org .

Produced and maintained by the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA), the web site was designed to be a portal where the industry can go to obtain information relating to the issues of intellectual property and brand protection for motor vehicle products.

The site contains facts and statistics about brand protection and counterfeiting, as well as a list of events, presentations from past seminars, a government affairs update, links to other valuable sites, articles of interest and much more. The site will eventually include a listing of solution providers that manufacturers can use to help battle this growing challenge.

According to Paul Foley, vice president of MEMA’s Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA), the site was conceptualized by MEMA’s new Brand Protection Council, which was established to help address and set the association’s priorities in the areas of counterfeiting, diversion, non-compliant products and intellectual property rights.

In addition to linking to the brand protection site off of www.mema.org, browsers can also access the web page from two of MEMA’s market segment associations AASA and HDMA.

For more information on MEMA’s Brand Protection Council, contact Paul Foley at 919-406-8840 or [email protected].
