GRI’s Prabhash Subasinghe Appointed Chairman Of Sri Lanka Economic Development Board

The Export Development Board (EDB) is Sri Lanka's apex organization for the promotion and development of exports. Its aim is to position Sri Lanka as a prominent export hub for innovative products and services.

The President of Sri Lanka, His Excellency Gotabaya Rajapaksa, has appointed Prabhash Subasinghe, managing director of GRI, as the chairman of the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB). GRI is a leading producer of specialty tires in Sri Lanka with offices in nine countries and sales in more than 50 countries around the world. GRI produces high-performance agriculture, construction and material handling tires.

Subasinghe is an ambitious and astute entrepreneur whose ultimate passion is to take Sri Lanka to the world. With a degree in Applied Economics and Business from Cornell University and subsequent higher studies at Harvard Business School, he sought after leadership and capitalism with the same determination and drive he positioned into the foundation of his education. Currently leading a group of companies that have achieved swift success on a global scale, Subasinghe is a proven leader with a steadfast passion to build great businesses. A drive to relentlessly deliver excellence in all his businesses has led to his remarkable success, according to GRI.

Subasinghe holds key leadership positions in many organizations and contributes significantly to the growth of the industries in which he is involved. He envisions being a catalyst for the next generation of growth, while working toward achieving new heights in the rubber and seafood industry in Sri Lanka.

Subasinghe said he was humbled to have been selected to steer the country’s export development initiative and accepted it in national interest.
