AutoZone Authorizes Additional Stock Repurchase; Announces General Counsel’s Retirement

Since the inception of the repurchase program in 1998, AutoZone's Board of Directors has authorized $13.4 billion.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — AutoZone Inc. announced its Board of Directors authorized the repurchase of an additional $750 million of the company’s common stock in connection with its ongoing share repurchase program. Since the inception of the repurchase program in 1998, and including the above amount, AutoZone’s Board of Directors has authorized $13.4 billion.

"AutoZone’s continued strong financial performance allows us to repurchase our stock while maintaining our investment grade credit ratings," said Bill Giles, executive vice president, chief financial officer, information technology and ALLDATA, customer satisfaction. "We remain committed to utilizing share repurchases within the bounds of a disciplined capital structure to enhance stockholder returns while maintaining adequate liquidity to execute our plans."

Additionally, the company announced Harry Goldsmith, EVP general counsel and secretary, will be retiring in January 2014. "I would like to thank Harry for his many contributions to our organization over the last 20 years. His leadership across the organization has been invaluable and the development of our businesses under his guidance has been tremendous. While he will be missed, we wish him well on his retirement and all his future endeavors," said Bill Rhodes, chairman, president and CEO.
