sp2-logoS/P2 has released a new course for career technical students across the U.S. and Canada titled, “Land That Job! Building a Resume.” This online course provides best practices for resume writing and creates an interactive process for students to build and download their resumes.

“We have been excited about launching this course for some time,” said Kyle Holt, president of S/P2. “Instructors asked for a course that not only explained the process to students, but also helped them create a resume. We’re so proud to be providing this tool to the schools and instructors. At the end of the course, the student has a professional resume that can help him or her land that interview.”

The “Land That Job! Building a Resume” course gives career technical students tips on ways to make their resumes stand out and how to avoid making mistakes that can cost them an interview, and provides examples of good and bad resumes. Then, the course provides an online, interactive process to build their resume, including work experience, education, certifications, relevant job skills, volunteer experience and awards received. At the end, the student can download and print his or her resume to be used in their job search.

Students can specify what industries they’re interested in working in, geographic locations they’re willing to work or move to, and whether they’re looking for full-time, part-time or internship/apprenticeship opportunities. S/P2 will be using this information to help match students with businesses looking for new hires from career technical programs at the high school and post-secondary levels.

“Imagine a student in Kansas who has always wanted to live in California,” said Holt. “She doesn’t know which businesses would be interested in hiring her in California, but soon we’ll be able to help make that match. At S/P2, our commitment to helping combat the skilled workers shortage is very real. By working together, we can combat the shortage, help students enter and remain in their industry of choice and give them the tools to build a true career path.”

The resume-writing course is provided at no charge to career technical schools that have a current S/P2 subscription.
