Tenneco Automotive has received a 2003 Vendor of the Year Award from Advance Auto Parts, recognizing the company as a top performing, service-oriented supplier during the past year. The award was announced at the recently held Advance Auto Parts Leadership Conference.

Replacement Parts To Acquire Louisiana Chain

Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance/Bumper to Bumper member Replacement Parts,Inc., which operates 134 stores and four distribution centers, has entered into an asset purchase agreement with Dimmick Supply Inc. The agreement will transfer all of Dimmick’s 10 stores and its single DC to Replacement Parts as of March 29. Dimmick Supply is also a Bumper-to-Bumper member, and its stores will continue to operate as such. The Dimmick stores are located in or adjoining existing Replacement Parts territories in southwest Louisiana and will be served out of the Monroe DC.

Tenneco Automotive and Pep Boys Sign Long-Term Deal

Tenneco Automotive has announced a long-term agreement with Pep Boys to supply Monroe shock absorbers, struts and off-road Rancho products to all of Pep Boys’ stores nationwide and in Puerto Rico. Tenneco Automotive’s Monroe, Rancho and DNX shock absorbers and struts and DNX and Dynomax performance exhaust products will be available at all Pep Boys’ stores beginning in February 2004.

Diedrich Scholarship Applications Due

Incoming students planning to attend Northwood University in Midland, Mich., have until March 1 to apply for the Harvey Diedrich “Advantage” Scholarship. The award of $500 will go to a deserving student, majoring in either Marketing/Management or Automotive Aftermarket Management. Applications can be submitted online at www.northwood.edu. Diedrich was a longtime contributor to the aftermarket who passed away suddenly in June 2003. The scholarship was established by Diedrich’s friends and colleagues for his innovative marketing programs for Monroe shocks and Walker mufflers. He was principal architect of the highly successful “Walker Advantage” program.

Tenneco Automotive Expands ‘Expert Plus’ Rewards Program

Tenneco Automotive’s Monroe shocks and struts and Walker exhaust brands have expanded the Expert Plus automotive service promotions and technician rewards program for 2004. Expert Plus is a comprehensive offering of national trade and consumer promotions, marketing materials, merchandising tools and installation incentives for automotive repair facilities and professional technicians. The program attracted more than 20,000 members in 2003.

Tenneco is now featuring limited lifetime warranties and a 90-day risk-free trial offer on premium Walker exhaust, Monroe shock and strut, DynoMax performance exhaust and Rancho off-road technologies. The new strategy will also enable aftermarket businesses to enhance bottom-line results while significantly increasing customer satisfaction and loyalty, according to Tenneco Automotive Vice President of Marketing Richard Alameddine.

Tenneco Automotive Announces Executive Appointment, Establishes Commercial Vehicle Segment Business Unit

Lois Boyd has been appointed vice president and general manager of Tenneco Automotive’s commercial vehicle segment and global program management. In her new role, Boyd will be responsible for the company’s growth in the commercial vehicle business. She will direct efforts to leverage Tenneco’s global engineering and manufacturing strengths to expand the business with commercial vehicle customers and in new specialty markets.
