CARQUEST Selects 2004 TECH-NET Professional/ASE Technician of the Year

Richard Robb of Elkhorn, Wis., has been named the 2004 TECH-NET Professional / ASE Technician of the Year. Owner of Hi-Tech Automotive, he is an ASE certified master automobile technician with L-1 certification. Robb was selected for the award after meeting the criteria set by CARQUEST and excelling on the Spring 2004 ASE automobile certification exams. Robb became an automotive technician in 1975. He started Hi-Tech Automotive 12 years ago and today his business has four bays.

SPX Service Solutions Acquires Actron Manufacturing

SPX Corp. announced today that it has acquired the assets of Cleveland, Ohio-based Actron Manufacturing Co. Actron produces automotive test equipment and instrumentation under the Actron, KAL-EQUIP and Faze brand names, among others. The company has annual revenues of approximately $35 million.

Equipment and Tool Institute Appoints Three to Leadership Positions

The Equipment and Tool Institute (ETI) board of directors has appointed three members to leadership positions. Mike Cable, vice president, OEM sales, at Hickok, Inc. in Cleveland, Ohio, has accepted the position of Underhood Technology Group (UTG) chairman. The UTG deals with the diagnostics related to the vehicle’s drive-train and power driven subsystems.
