Piston Ring Service Selects Epicor Vision Automotive Aftermarket Solution

Canadian auto parts distributor targets efficiency, competitive advantage with powerful new business management software.

DUBLIN, Calif. – Epicor Software Corp. has announced that Piston Ring Service, a leading automotive aftermarket parts distributor based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, will implement the Epicor Vision automotive aftermarket solution. The company, which has long been a leading user of advanced information technology solutions for the aftermarket, says it is moving to Epicor Vision to achieve world-class operational efficiency and enhanced competitive advantage.

“Epicor Vision is the right next step as we continue to identify new ways to grow our business and strengthen our relationships with existing customers through superior service,” said Jim Tennant, president of Piston Ring Service. “We believe we have the best people in each of our markets, and we want to provide them with world-class tools to ensure a superior customer experience. Epicor Vision software meets that standard in today’s automotive parts marketplace.”

According to Epicor, Vision is a highly flexible solution for aftermarket business owners who want to control costs and increase sales through extremely efficient inventory management and differentiate their businesses by delivering highly personalized service. The solution includes customer relationship management (CRM) tools, a centralized database, price management capabilities, “central services” functionality, integrated accounting and other features that help drive sales, operational efficiency and customer satisfaction, according to the company. Epicor Vision also includes a three-way match feature that helps users quickly identify and reconcile discrepancies between purchase orders, advance shipping notices, receivers and vendor invoices.

Piston Ring Service already relies on Epicor Eagle for the Aftermarket software to operate each of its 28 company-owned stores as well as multiple independent associate store locations. These stores serve professional automotive repair businesses and consumers throughout Manitoba and northwestern Ontario. The company, which employs more than 400 and this year is celebrating its 60th anniversary, is an Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance shareholder.

“Piston Ring has become one of North America’s premier automotive parts distributors by delivering a truly differentiated service experience built around the power of great people and innovative technologies,” said Steve Bieszczat, senior vice president, automotive and marketing, retail distribution solutions for Epicor. “Their investment in Epicor Vision will help them continue to remain a step ahead of the competition through step-change improvements in operational efficiency and customer loyalty.”
