Auto Parts Industry Presses Senate To Pass Association Health Plan Bill

Ten trade associations representing the entire scope of the auto parts industry, from suppliers to aftermarket, challenged the United States Senate to enact the “Small Business Health Fairness Act” (S. 406). The bill would allow small businesses to purchase affordable health care coverage through a trade association. In a show of solidarity, the 10 groups submitted a joint letter to the Senate urging immediate support for the bill, commonly referred to as “Association Health Plans” (AHPs).

Five Major Paint Companies Show Support of NACE

The International Autobody Congress & Exposition (NACE) announced this week five major paint companies will be at NACE 2005 and will demonstrate their support of the annual trade show by sponsoring special events, event transportation and several conference sessions. The five companies include: Akzo Nobel, BASF, DuPont Performance Coatings, Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes Corp. and Valspar.

Valspar to Mark Two Significant Anniversaries During NACE

Valspar Corp., a paint manufacturer and supplier to the collision repair industry, will celebrate the company’s 200th anniversary this year. House of Kolor, a division of Valspar, will celebrate its 50th anniversary this year as well. The company will utilize its long-standing relationship with the International Autobody Congress & Exposition (NACE) to mark these two occasions.

NACE Selects Chairman 2005 Event

Geralynn Kottschade, AAM, co-owner of Jerry’s Body Shop, Mankato, Minn., has been named chairman of the 2005 International Autobody Congress & Exposition (NACE). Kottschade is the first woman to chair NACE and brings 22 years of collision repair experience to the position.

CARSTAR Announces Executive Promotions

CARSTAR, one of North America’s largest collision repair organizations, has promoted three of its executives. Daren Fristoe, most recently senior vice president, has been promoted to the position of chief administrative officer for CARSTAR. Fristoe will continue to provide the company with corporate leadership, specifically focusing on the areas of human resources, training and education, franchise communication and services, corporate marketing and community initiatives. Fristoe joined the CARSTAR organization in May of 2002 after serving as vice president of human resources at eScout, LLC.
