AMI Announces 2006-2007 Board of Trustees
The Automotive Management Institute (AMI) has announced its 2006-2007 Board of Trustees. John Francis Jr., AAM, of Francis Automotive Service, West Chester, PA, has been re-elected chairman; George Witt, AAM, of George Witt Service, Inc., Lincoln, NE, was re-elected vice-chair; Bob Pearson, AAM, of Pearson Auto Body, Shakopee, MN, was re-elected treasurer and Bill Sauer, founder of Identifix in Roseville, MN, was re-elected secretary.
I-CAR to Present Technology Showcase at NACE
I-CAR, a leading collision repair training company, will develop, plan and implement eight clinics to be offered on the International Autobody Congress & Exposition (NACE) show floor in the I-CAR Technology Showcase. In addition to the showcase clinics on the NACE show floor, I-CAR will also be expanding its offerings within the NACE 2006 Conference by scheduling technical training programs on both Wednesday, November 1 and Saturday, November 4.

AMI’s resource development effort, EXCEL, in conjunction with Babcox Publications, established the scholarship, which is awarded to an Automotive Service Association (ASA) Collision Division member who strives to be, or is presently working, in a management capacity.

NACE 2005 Delivers Results, Say Show Organizers
Organizers for the International Autobody Congress & Exposition (NACE) have reported strong participation and support for this year’s show, which has been rescheduled to coincide each year with Automotive Aftermarket Industry Week (AAIW). The show is now held at its permanent venue – the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas. NACE 2005, themed “Focused on Collision Repair,” held its largest-ever conference program.
CCC Information Services Marks 25th Anniversary with $25,000 in Scholarships
CCC Information Services Inc. is offering five schools $25,000 in collision repair training and education scholarships to assist deserving students pursuing a career in the automotive-collision repair industry. The CCC Outstanding Student Technician Scholarship, developed in cooperation with the I-CAR Education Foundation, is now accepting applications for the 2006 program.
New Hampshire Autocare Specialist Named 2006 NAPA/ASE Technician of the Year
NAPA Auto Parts and the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) have named Michael Lavoie of Haverhill, NH, the 2006 NAPA/ASE Technician of the Year. Presented annually by NAPA Auto Parts and ASE, the award is given to a technician that exemplifies excellence and achievement in the industry. The winner is selected by a panel that includes former winners, automotive trade media and staff from ASE Headquarters.
