SKF Sponsors the Car Care Council Women’s Board

The Car Care Council Women’s Board has announced that SKF has committed to sponsoring the 2007 Women’s Board. The Women’s Board offers four tax-deductible sponsorship levels, Platinum ($5,000), Gold ($2,500), Silver ($1,250) and Bronze ($500). These sponsorship dollars cover all of the activities of the various Women’s Board committees.

Two June Workshops Target Increased Success for Aftermarket Professionals

The University of the Aftermarket is offering two workshops in June to help industry professionals enhance their on-the-job performance. “It’s Not Easy Being Green! (or Purple or Orange or ‘Different’ in Any Way)” (Course G561), a day-and-a-half workshop that will take place June 19-20 in Troy, MI, is designed to help participants become confident, self-aware leaders who inspire increased creativity and success among their co-workers. Financial Skills Workshop (Course G562), which takes place June 26-27 in Troy, is designed to help non-financial managers make better business decisions through an enhanced understanding of key financial concepts. Both workshops will take place at the Detroit-area campus of Northwood University.

Executive Interview with Jeff Stauffer, Senior Vice President of Global Group Marketing for Affinia Group, Inc.

This week we hear from Jeff Stauffer, senior vice president of global group marketing for Affinia Group, Inc. Prior to joining Affinia in September 2006, Stauffer was vice president of marketing for the consumer products division of Old World Industries. In that position he managed all aspects of product development and brand management for a diverse portfolio of products, including PEAK Antifreeze and Mr. Clean Auto Care. Before moving to Old World in 1997, Stauffer had worked at Moog Automotive/Cooper Industries for 13 years. He began his career at Tenneco Automotive in 1976. His 30 years in the aftermarket also have included extensive experience in sourcing, research, sports marketing, public relations, advertising, as well as category management. If the world is indeed flat, how has it impacted the aftermarket? A panel moderated by Northwood President Keith Pretty examined a changing aftermarket within a rapidly changing world. Gary Kremer Retires from Uni-Select USA

Gary Kremer , senior vice president at Uni-Select USA, is retiring. A 35 year veteran of the aftermarket industry, Kremer will step down from his role at Uni-Select effective Friday, March 30.In addition to his career at Uni-Select, Kremer is a past chairman of Automotive Warehouse Distributors Association (AWDA), past chairman of the Car Care Council and past president of the Independent Auto Parts of America. He also served as an instructor for the AWDA University, now Northwood University’s University of the Aftermarket.

Speaker Lineup Announced for 2007 Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium

The lineup of speakers has been announced for “Survival in a Changing Aftermarket,” the 2007 Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium (GAAS) program, slated for May 8-9, at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Chicago. The GAAS 2007 program will begin with a special opening presentation at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, May 8, featuring a new video about the GAAS scholarship, which is funded by Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA), Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA), Automotive Service Association (ASA) and Automotive Warehouse Distributors Association (AWDA). Pete Kornafel, vice chairman of CARQUEST and chairman of the GAAS scholarship committee, will announce the number of scholarship presented, including the 2007 awards.
