Activant Honors Three Aftermarket Manufacturers For Excellence in eCatalog Parts Data

Activant Solutions Inc. recently presented its annual President’s Award for Electronic Data Excellence to three automotive aftermarket manufacturers in recognition of the quality and timeliness of their product data. Activant representatives presented the award to Beck/Arnley, Federal-Mogul Corporation’s Wagner Brake Products brand and CARDONE Industries during the National Catalog Managers Association (NCMA) “Knowledge Exchange” conference in Tempe, Ariz.

CARQUEST Announces 2004 Vendor of the Year and Technology Award Winners

CARQUEST recently named East Penn Manufacturing, supplier of CARQUEST Batteries and Battery Accessories, as its 2004 Vendor of the Year. The company also presented Technology Awards to four vendors: Gates Corp., which supplies CARQUEST Belts & Hose; the Affinia Group, supplier of CARQUEST Filters and Brakes; CARDONE, supplier of CARQUEST Remanufactured Products; and Airtex Products, supplier of CARQUEST Fuel Pumps. The awards were presented during CARQUEST’s annual Executive Briefing on April 13.

AWDA Announces New Officers, Incoming and Outgoing Board Members

Fletcher Lord, Jr., AAP, president and CEO, Parts Warehouse, Inc. has been elected 2005 chairman of the board for the Automotive Warehouse Distributors Association (AWDA). Lord follows Richard Beirne (2004) and Ron Levene (2003) as AWDA chairmen. Joining Lord in the segment’s top leadership positions are vice chairman Doug Washbish, president, Moog Louisville Warehouse; secretary Tim Sturdevant, AAP, vice president and COO, S.A.E. Coalition for a Level Playing Field Files Antitrust Suit Against Auto Retailers and Manufacturers

A coalition of 160 auto parts retailers and warehouse distributors, known as The Coalition for a Level Playing Field, have filed an antitrust suit in federal court in New York against AutoZone, Advance Auto, Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club and 13 auto parts manufacturers, including Dana, Ford Motor Co, Standard Motor Products and CARDONE Industries.

Three Join AASA Board

Three automotive aftermarket executives have joined the board of governors of the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA). AASA is the aftermarket market segment association of the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA). New board members serving three year terms are: Kevin Baird, CEO, Qualitor Inc., Southfield, Mich.; John Casanova, senior vice president, Remy International, Anderson, Ind.; and John Casanova, senior vice president, Remy International, Anderson, Ind.

Overseas Automotive Council Selects Three New Board Members

Three new members have been elected to the Overseas Automotive Council (OAC) Board of Directors for three-year terms of office. OAC is the international aftermarket division of MEMA. The council promotes the sale in foreign markets of automotive products manufactured in North America.
