AUSTIN, TEXAS — Activant Solutions Inc. recently presented its annual President’s Award for Electronic Data Excellence to three automotive aftermarket manufacturers in recognition of the quality and timeliness of their product data.

Activant representatives presented the award to Beck/Arnley, Federal-Mogul Corporation’s Wagner Brake Products brand and CARDONE Industries during the National Catalog Managers Association (NCMA) “Knowledge Exchange” conference in Tempe, Ariz.

Each year, three aftermarket manufacturers receive the Activant award based on a broad range of criteria, including data accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness, delivery and communication.

“It’s well recognized that a competitive advantage in the aftermarket depends on the ability to empower the parts counterperson with better and more timely product information,” said Steve Bieszczat, vice president of information services for Activant. “These three organizations do an exceptional job of providing clean, comprehensive data that ultimately reaches the parts professional in a more efficient and effective manner.”

Parts data provided by aftermarket manufacturers is published and formatted to optimize counter efficiency in each of Activant’s eCatalog products, including PartExpert, ePartExpert, ShopCat, LaserCat, and the revolutionary new Activant Cover-to-Cover graphical eCat module. The Activant Data Acquisition Team works closely with a number of manufacturers to accelerate the delivery of product data to the parts counter. This “Best Practices” process, which helps eliminate the data quality and formatting issues that can delay release to the market, is available from Activant to all industry suppliers.

“This year’s winners are great examples of organizations that continually pursue new opportunities to optimize the data delivery process,” Bieszczat said. “Their success in compressing the data publishing cycle also demonstrates the value of examining and implementing best practices within a catalog management department.”

With more than 200 members representing most major North American automotive parts manufacturers, NCMA establishes and monitors quality standards for print and electronic catalogs.
