Dennis Welvaert, president, North American aftermarket division, Dayco Products LLC., Tulsa, OK, took office as chairman of the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA) Board of Governors at the board’s Nov. 8 board meeting in Chicago. Welvaert is a 37-year veteran in the automotive industry. His career started with Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. where he held various technical positions in research and development before moving into the OEM Sales division.

AIA Luncheon Salutes “People Awards” Winners; IMC Donates $51,250 to AAIA

The Auto International Association (AIA) hosted its ninth-annual awards luncheon on Wednesday afternoon at the Venetian hotel, to honor the winners of its prestigious AIA People Awards. Also, at last night’s Interamerican Motor Corporation (IMC) reception at Harrah’s, IMC president and CEO Thomas Beer presented a check for $51,250 to Kathleen Schmatz from AAIA. The funds were generated as a result of Team IMC’s epic 350-mile cycling ride from Los Angeles to the Sands Expo Center and will be used to fund a study that will examine the challenges and opportunities of telematics.
