IBI Honored For Brake Caliper CD Catalog
International Brake Industries, Inc. (IBI) recently received an award from the National Catalog Managers Association (NCMA) at NCMA’s 32nd Annual Conference held in Phoenix, Ariz. The IBI Caliper Rebuilder Catalog was one of three CD-ROM catalogs to receive the President’s Award for CD Catalog Excellence. IBI received this same award in 2003 from the 200-member professional organization.
Macon, Ga., Auto Parts, Service Shops Bought by Oklahoma Company
Two Macon, Ga.-based automotive parts and service businesses have been sold to an Oklahoma company. Macon-owned Global Parts Distributors, a parts supplier, and Auto Air of Macon, an auto service business founded in 1974, have been sold to Oklahoma City-based Fred Jones Enterprises, said Doug Hines, Global’s president.
Clevite Engine Parts, Randy Dorton Memorial Fund Set Up Live, Online Charity Auction
Clevite Engine Parts and the Randy Dorton Memorial Fund have teamed up to raise money for the NASCAR Technical Institute’s Randy Dorton Memorial Fund Scholarship. A special charity auction will take place on eBay in addition to two other auctions — a silent charity auction and a live auction – both scheduled for the evening of Tuesday, May 24 at the prestigious NASCAR Technical Institute in Mooresville, NC, as part of the Final Round of the Clevite Engine Builder Showdown. Proceeds from each auction will benefit the Randy Dorton Memorial Fund.

China’s Growing Presence in the Global Auto Industry
Over the past few years, global competition in the automotive industry has significantly heated up. Wayne Xing, editor and publisher of China Business Update, yesterday addressed one particular country of increasing interest to the U.S. aftermarket – China – during a presentation at the 2005 Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium (GAAS).
